How much does SurveyMonkey cost per month?

SurveyMonkey costs $149 per month on Standard, the only individual plan listed with monthly billing. Advantage works out to $39 per month and Premier to $139 per month, but both are billed annually as $468 and $1,668. Team plans cost $30 or $92 per user per month, billed annually with a 3-user minimum.

The billing structure is the trap. SurveyMonkey’s US page lists Standard only as a monthly plan and Advantage and Premier only as annual plans. Twelve months of Standard would cost $1,788, more than Premier Annual. Advantage Annual costs $468, roughly what 3 months of Standard cost ($447).

Our rule of thumb: if you need a paid SurveyMonkey plan for more than 3 months a year, Advantage Annual is cheaper than Standard. Standard only makes sense for a single, short project.

What does each SurveyMonkey plan include?

SurveyMonkey’s plans differ in question limits, response allowances, analysis features and seats. Basic caps surveys at 10 questions. Standard unlocks unlimited questions, skip logic and data exports. Advantage adds statistical significance and AI analysis. Premier adds crosstabs, advanced logic and multilingual surveys. Team plans add shared assets and user roles.

Basic (free)

SurveyMonkey Basic is free for 1 user with unlimited surveys, but each survey is limited to 10 questions. You can view a limited number of responses per survey; SurveyMonkey shows the exact limit when you sign up or log in. Basic includes some question types, building with AI, web link and social sharing, website embeds and a Zapier integration.

Standard Monthly

SurveyMonkey Standard costs $149 per month, billed monthly, for 1 user. It adds unlimited questions, 1,000 responses per month, more question types, custom design, skip logic, email invitations, data exports and 200+ integrations. SurveyMonkey itself recommends Basic or Standard with monthly billing if you only plan to send one survey.

Advantage Annual

SurveyMonkey Advantage costs $468 per year for 1 user, which SurveyMonkey shows as $39 per month. It includes 15,000 responses per year and adds premium themes, more logic features, payment collection, statistical significance, multi-survey analysis, Programs for always-on insights, AI analysis and thematic analysis.

Premier Annual

SurveyMonkey Premier costs $1,668 per year for 1 user, shown as $139 per month. It includes 40,000 responses per year and adds white-label branding, survey completion redirects, advanced logic, block randomization, multilingual surveys, crosstabs and phone support. Crosstabs, the analysis feature researchers often choose SurveyMonkey for, starts here.

Team Advantage, Team Premier and Enterprise

Team Advantage costs $30 per user per month and Team Premier costs $92, both billed annually with at least 3 users. They include 50,000 and 100,000 responses per year; on paid plans, SurveyMonkey counts response limits across all surveys and users. Enterprise starts at 5 users and adds SSO, enhanced governance, US, Canada or EU data centers and custom response limits.

How much does SurveyMonkey cost for a team?

A 3-person team pays at least $1,080 per year on SurveyMonkey Team Advantage and $3,312 per year on Team Premier. A 5-person team pays $1,800 on Team Advantage. Team Advantage is cheaper per person than the individual Advantage plan: $30 versus $39 per month.

tools8020 calculation from SurveyMonkey’s US list prices on October 3, 2026. Excludes tax, SurveyMonkey Audience and overage.

Two findings stand out. First, three people on Team Advantage pay $324 less per year than three individual Advantage accounts, and get a larger shared allowance. Second, Standard’s included responses cost about $0.15 each, the same rate SurveyMonkey charges for overage on paid plans.

What hidden costs come with SurveyMonkey?

SurveyMonkey’s hidden costs are response overages, paid respondent panels, per-person seats and annual commitments. Its retention policy can also delete data after a downgrade. None of these appear in the plan headline price, so price them before you launch a large study.

  • Overage. Paid plans charge $0.15 for each response beyond your limit. Limits count across all surveys and users on the account.
  • SurveyMonkey Audience. SurveyMonkey Audience responses are sold separately from every plan.
  • Seats. Every collaborator needs their own account or seat. Accounts are for individual use, and each user can register up to 2 devices at a time.
  • Over-inviting. If you invite more people than you have seats, SurveyMonkey charges a prorated overage.
  • Auto-renew and data deletion. Auto-renew is on by default. If you turn it off, you drop to a free plan at the end of the cycle, and responses over the Basic limit that are older than 365 days are deleted.

Export what you need before a paid plan lapses. SurveyMonkey lists data exports as a Standard feature, not a Basic one.

Does SurveyMonkey offer discounts?

Yes, in limited cases. SurveyMonkey offers special pricing for students and educators in the US and UK. Nonprofits and charities may also qualify for discounts. SurveyMonkey’s pricing FAQ points buyers in other countries to a separate page listing available discounts. It doesn’t publish discount percentages on the pricing page.

The more reliable saving is plan choice. Annual Advantage instead of Standard, or a 3-seat team plan instead of three individual plans, cuts cost more than most promotions.

How does SurveyMonkey’s cost compare to Typeform and Fillout?

SurveyMonkey is the most expensive of the three for basic data collection. Fillout starts at $15 per month billed annually and Typeform Basic at $28 per month billed yearly. SurveyMonkey’s annual entry plan, Advantage, costs $39 per month but includes far more responses.

Which SurveyMonkey plan should you choose?

Choose Basic for a quick poll with 10 questions or fewer. Choose Standard Monthly for a single short project, then cancel. Choose Advantage Annual if you survey year-round on your own. Choose Premier or Team Premier only if you need crosstabs, multilingual surveys or advanced logic. Teams of 3 or more should buy Team Advantage.

The 80/20 call is Advantage Annual at $468 per year for solo researchers and Team Advantage for groups of three or more. Both beat Standard on cost within a few months. Pay for Premier only when crosstabs are part of the deliverable.

If you mostly need forms rather than research analysis, SurveyMonkey is likely overkill at any tier. Our SurveyMonkey review, the SurveyMonkey alternatives we’d pick and the form builders we rank cover cheaper fits.

How we verified this page

Every SurveyMonkey price, limit and plan feature on this page was read from SurveyMonkey’s team pricing page and individual pricing page on October 3, 2026, as served to our crawler in USD. Prices may differ by country. Competitor prices come from each vendor’s pricing page on the same date. Scenario costs and cost-per-response figures are our own arithmetic on list prices. We left out the Basic response limit and the Analyst seat price because SurveyMonkey doesn’t publish them on its pricing pages. Recommendations follow our evaluation methodology.

Frequently asked questions

Is SurveyMonkey free?

Yes, SurveyMonkey has a free Basic plan for 1 user with unlimited surveys. Each survey is limited to 10 questions, and you can view only a limited number of responses per survey. SurveyMonkey shows the exact response limit when you sign up or log in. Data exports, skip logic and unlimited questions require a paid plan.

Why is SurveyMonkey so expensive?

SurveyMonkey prices itself as a research tool, not a form builder. Its paid plans bundle analysis features such as statistical significance, AI thematic analysis and, on Premier, crosstabs. The $149 Standard Monthly price also pushes buyers toward annual plans. For simple data collection, Fillout or Tally costs far less.

How much does SurveyMonkey cost for one survey?

For one survey, SurveyMonkey recommends Basic (free) or Standard with monthly billing at $149. Standard includes unlimited questions and 1,000 responses per month. Auto-renew is on by default, so turn it off after your project. Export your results first, because older responses over the Basic limit can be deleted.

What happens if I go over my SurveyMonkey response limit?

On paid plans, SurveyMonkey charges $0.15 for each response beyond your plan's limit. Limits are counted across all surveys and users on the account. On Basic, SurveyMonkey says you can view only a limited number of responses per survey, even if you collect more.

Can two people share one SurveyMonkey account?

No. SurveyMonkey's pricing FAQ says that, per its Terms of Use, accounts are for individual use only and may not be shared. Each user can register up to 2 devices at a time. Teams should buy a team plan, which requires at least 3 users. Team Advantage at $30 per user per month is cheaper per person than individual Advantage.

Is SurveyMonkey cheaper than Typeform?

It depends on volume. Typeform Basic costs $28 per month billed yearly, below SurveyMonkey Advantage at $39. But Typeform Basic includes 100 responses per month, while Advantage includes 15,000 per year. For surveys collecting more than about 100 responses a month, SurveyMonkey Advantage is usually the cheaper option.

Does SurveyMonkey have a student or nonprofit discount?

Yes. SurveyMonkey offers special pricing for students and educators in the US and UK, and says nonprofits and charities may also qualify for discounts. Discount amounts aren't listed on the pricing page. Buyers in other countries can check SurveyMonkey's separate page of available discounts.
